The questions have changed over the years. It used to be "Where do you get your protein?" and "Don't you miss bacon?"
These days, people are more likely to say "I'm trying to eat less meat" or "I'm vegan except for cheese." The conversation has shifted.
But the question I get most often now is "What do you think about cultivated meat?" Followed closely by "Would you eat it?"
My answer is always the same: absolutely. I didn't stop eating meat because I didn't like it. I stopped because I couldn't justify the ethical cost.
The next question is usually about when it'll be available. People seem genuinely excited about the possibility. Even committed meat-eaters are curious about it.
It's interesting how the conversation has evolved from defending veganism to discussing future food technology. From justifying a restriction to exploring new possibilities.
That feels like progress. Even if I still occasionally get asked about protein.
