I've been self-employed since 16. When you work for yourself, every decision is yours to own. There's no corporate policy to hide behind, no boss to blame.
The same principle applied when I became vegan. It was about taking personal responsibility for my choices rather than just accepting how things had always been done.
In business, I've always looked for better ways of doing things. Why follow the crowd when there might be a more efficient solution? Why stick with outdated methods just because "that's how it's done"?
The meat industry feels similar. We've been producing meat the same way for thousands of years. Not because it's the best way, but because it was the only way.

That's what's exciting about cultivated meat. It's like someone finally asking, "What if there's a better way to do this?" It's innovation driven by necessity, just like any good business solution.
The teenager who started his first business would never have imagined he'd end up interested in food technology. But then again, he probably wouldn't have imagined being vegan either.
